48 Hours in Niagara Falls

After our road trip, the 7 of us went all back to New York. My husband and I together with my friends Mica and Mervin went to Niagara Falls the next day. Some of our friends weren’t able to join us because they have to go back to their work. When Mica and Mervin told us that they will be joining us in our US trip, we booked a tour to Niagara online.

The Next day after our road trip, Mark dropped us off at the bus station where we will be picked up for the tour. It was a long drive and took us 7 hours to get to our destination. Half way through, we stopped by Hoves Cave and went to the lake which is completely frozen because of the snow.

DAY 1

When we arrived, we checked-in the hotel then headed to the falls at night for the Niagara Falls Illumination Light Show. Although it was freezing cold, the falls is still beautiful to see even at night. The different colored lights gives a huge life to the falls.

HOTEL: DAYS INN NIAGRA AT THE FALLS

We stayed in Days Inn Niagara at the Falls which is part of our itinerary. It was a big help that it is part of the tour package because after our long drive from New York, we didn’t worry and didn’t get stressed about finding a hotel room to stay in. Also, the hotel is only a short walk away from the falls.

The hotel is simple but the service was great. Looking outside the hotel can be deceiving because it looks plain and simple but inside, everything is beautifully and recently renovated. Our hotel room was clean and our bed is comfortable to sleep in.

The next day, we watched the Niagara Falls Adventure Movie first thing in the morning then we went to the Whirlpool State Park. The park has the perfect view of the Whirlpool Rapids on its other side. This is located at the New York side of Niagara. The whirlpool may look beautiful but it is deadly because of the fast current. There are people called “Niagara Daredevils”, those are the people who tried to ‘test the waters’. Like, Joe Chambers who swam the lower rapids, and Vincent Taylor who made a parachute jump. Though that may sound fun and exciting, accidents happen and always remember to stay safe. Recently, it was reported that a 22 year old college student having a barbecue with friends drowned after he got caught in the whirlpool.

DAY 2

People are allowed to go hiking, biking, and fishing at the park. They have playground for kids and picnic amenities. A lot of people recommended to visit during spring or summer to enjoy all those activities, nevertheless it was still beautiful when we came.

Location: Robert Moses State Parkway,Niagara Falls, NY 14303

Old Fort Niagara

Visiting the Old Fort is like visiting an 18th century era. We enjoyed touring around the original buildings and artifacts. Inside the Fort, you’ll see the buildings built for the Native Americans, French, British, and American soldiers to live in during the 18th to 20th century. I am so glad that this was part of the itinerary because we had so much fun in there!

Location: Youngstown, NY, USA

Niagara State Park is a family-friendly environment where everybody can enjoy the beautiful scenery and hike. There are also restaurants and interactive exhibits while walking around. A ride to the Maid of the Mist is also part of the tour package but we didn’t have the chance because of the weather.

Niagara Falls is one of the most famous water attraction in the world because it consist of two waterfalls standing on the Niagara River located in the border of New York and Ontario, Canada. Niagara is also considered as the biggest source of electric power in the world because the water is diverted to give power to both countries; US and Canada.

After a long day, the Niagara State Park is our last stop before we all go back to the south. The two day trip to Niagara has ended and we all went back to New York.
